Dates for 2020

20th August to 20th September, held as a Virtual Competition

As the live event can't take place due to coronavirus restrictions, we will be enabling a virtual event for those that are able to register performances between 20 August and 20 September 2020 in either competition, training, or at school. Details are shown on the right side panel here.

Age groups

These are 2020 age-groupings and are based on the school year you were in prior to the summer holidays. This includes senior athletes who were in Y13 prior to the school holidays.

Ages are as at 31st August 2020.

Juniors (under 15)
Intermediates (under 17)
Seniors (under 19)

Entries must be made online by teachers, coaches, or parents. See the rules in the panel on the right. Performances can be done at school, club, or elsewhere but need to be ratified by a responsible adult.

Click the Virtual CE and Race Walk Entry buttons on the left to make your entry. Entries use facilities provided by Google Forms, and whilst the data you enter is under the control of ESAA and the ESAA's privacy policy, your use of Google Forms is also subject to Google's conditions and privacy policies - you can find links to those at the bottom of each form.

Following the enthusiasm shown for the English Schools' AA Virtual Track & Field Championships in July, we are pleased to offer a similar opportunity to Combined Events Athletes and Race Walkers.

With the loss of the Championships that so many young athletes had hoped would be able to take place in September, we have made the decision to offer an opportunity for athletes to compete with and against others across the country, between Thursday 20th August and Sunday 20th September (which would have been the finals day of the Championships in Bedford).

We hope that by competing, either in training sessions or club Open Meetings (should more of these become possible), this will raise the mood of so many athletes and, even if they can't be in the same place to do so, they will get the great feeling of competition and camaraderie that the ESAA Combined Events and Race Walks Championships always bring.

We are aware that many tracks across the country are still closed, coaching sessions remain difficult and that the school holidays have now begun. Nevertheless, we still feel it is worthwhile trying to do something, hence the decision to stage these virtual competitions during the month leading up to what was to have been the Championships weekend.

For Combined Events, individual events can be done in any order over the period of 'competition', but the full range of Pentathlon (JG and JB), Heptathlon (IG and SG), Octathlon (IB) or Decathlon (SB) will need to be completed and submitted by 20th September 2020. Race Walk entries will need to be submitted by the same day..

Events can be done in training, at school, at a club, or a track, but performances need to be verified by a responsible adult. All times should be submitted as manual because electronic timing facilities won't be available to all participants.

All athletes will receive a certificate to show that they participated in the event, sent by email to the contact email address given on the entry form. Please make sure you have entered it and ALL data accurately.

You will be able to see a link to the results on the ESAA Facebook page after the end of competition, and they will also be published here on this website. This is very much a trial on our part, and volunteers are staging it, so please bear with us, final results will be published as soon as possible after 20th September.
